چکیده

Two entomopathogenic species of the hyphomycete genus Tolypocladium are descr ibed in detail. Tolypocladium extinguens sp. nov. was found on larvae of Arachnocampa luminosa (Diptera; Mycetophil idae) in caves in New Zealand. Tolypocladium cyl indrosporum W. Gams is shown to be pathogenic to Aedes sierrensis and A. australis and is reported from Plecia nearctica (Diptera; Bibionidae). The occurrence of entomopathogenic species in this normally soil-borne genus is discussed.

Studies on bioassay of the entomopathogenic hyphomycete fungus Tolypocladium cylindrosporum in mosquitoes.

Larvae of Aedes aegypti, Ae. vexans and Culiseta inornata were used to study the pathogenicity of the hyphomycete fungus Tolypocladium cylindrosporum. Experiments consisted of continuous exposure of second-instar larvae to 5 concentrations of conidia at 10, 15, 20 and 25 degrees C. The 3 test species were susceptible at all temperatures tested. There was generally a direct relationship between ...

Preliminary field trials with the entomopathogenic hyphomycete Tolypocladium cylindrosporum in central Alberta.

Conidia and blastoconidia of the pathogenic hyphomycete Tolypocladium cylindrosporum were applied to temporary and semi-permanent pools in central Alberta on 6 occasions. Infections were detected in the field only following application of blastoconidia; indications were that infections did not occur in the field following application of conidia. Most infections were detected only after holding ...

Pathogenicity of entomopathogenic fungi to Ornithodoros erraticus and 1 Ornithodoros moubata ( Acari : Argasidae ) 2 3 4

24 25 The argasid ticks O. erraticus and O. moubata are of great medical and veterinary 26 importance because they are vectors of the African swine fever virus and several species of 27 human relapsing fever borreliae. Biocontrol of these ticks using entomopathogenic fungi has not 28 been previously reported. We examined the pathogenicity to different developmental stages of 29 these two argasi...

Entomopathogenic Hyphomycetes Associated with Gypsy Moth Larvae

Gypsy moth, Lymantria dispar, populations were sampled in four eastern North American states during 1991 and 1992 to evaluate levels of hyphomycete infection in association with releases of the Asian gypsy moth pathogen Entomophaga maimaiga. Paecilomyces farinosus was the most abundant hyphomycete species, occurring at the majority of sites, although levels of infection averaged only 4.6% (1991...

Tick pathogenicity, thermal tolerance and virus infection in Tolypocladium cylindrosporum

Herrero N, Pérez R, Oleaga A, Zabalgogeazcoa I. 2011. Tick pathogenicity, thermal tolerance and virus infection in Tolypocladium cylindrosporum. Annals of Applied Biology 159:192-201. Tolypocladium cylindrosporum is a fungus which has been isolated from soil, from asymptomatic plants as an endophyte, and has been shown to be pathogenic to several species of arthropods. The objective of the pres...
